Psalm 139:13-16

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."

Lydia Transition Update

Lydia has now been in the transition unit of our children's hospital since Sunday.  She continues to make progress!  I actually got to be her nurse the past two days, and it was my honor!

Here are the updates from her mom, Lori.

Monday: Lydia had another good night!  She got moved to another unit yesterday.  She is still being monitored, and access is still pretty restricted, but it's a step closer to home!  She still has a lot of goals to meet before then, but it feels good to know we are on the right track.  I came home to give Jaycie some much needed attention while Jason stayed with the baby girl last night.  Jaycie has been a real trooper, but is having a hard time only having one of us home at the time.  Thank you all for your continued prayers!  So thankful for each day.

Tuesday: Lydia seemed to have a good night last night.  Trying to adjust the dose of seizure medicine she is on, and they are doing an EEG now to determine seizure activity level.  She was more awake last night which was so sweet.  I'm ready to hear her cry, see her eat, do the things a baby is supposed to do, but I know those things will come in time.  Thank you for your continued prayers for Lydia and our family!

Wednesday: Lydia had another good night.  She took a bottle!!  If she can maintain a good eating schedule they will stop tube feedings.  We are seeing progress every day!  Still no word on EEG results from yesterday, and we are still trying to get all seizure meds balanced.  The Lord's definitely got some big plans for this little girl!

Thank you SO much for your prayers for this precious little girl and our family!  We are blessed with great prayer friends!

Here are some pictures of our sweet Lydia!

Lydia PICU Day 3

Lydia had a great night with her mom and dad!  She is not changing by leaps and bounds, but she made a couple of steps in a very positive direction last night.  The doctors remain positive about how she is doing!  We want to thank you for the prayers.  Lori and Jason say they feel comforted by them and are seeing them working!

This is my prayer in the battle, when triumph is still on its way; I am a CONQUEROR and co-heir with Christ!  So firm on His promise I'll stand!

I will bring praise! I WILL BRING PRAISE!  No weapon formed against me shall remain.  I will rejoice!  I will declare God is my VICTORY and HE IS HERE!

Lydia PICU Day 2

Lydia has been having seizures. They are keeping her medicated to try to stop them, but the meds make her very sedated. She is breathing on her own, and the rest of her body is strong. The seizure activity was better through the night, and she is holding steady! Dr said he is impressed with the strenght of her body under all these meds. She is doing well considering all she has going.

Please pray specifically for the seizures to STOP COMPLETELY so that she can be tapered off the medicines that have her so sleepy. We are praying for and believe we will see her recover fully, and her neurologist is very optimistic that she will, it's just a matter of how long that will take.

Jason and Lori can be with her, but other visitors are restricted. Please just pray for her, for Jaycie, and for Lori and Jason as they try to balance time between their two precious daughters. Thank you so much for your prayers!

Lori got to hold her today!

Lydia Update

Lydia is stable.  She is still in ICU.  Lori's words were "she is stable, but worrisome".  Results from the CT scan today were no different/worse than expected.  The doctor remains hopeful.

These are also Lori's words: "we serve a mighty God, so we are hopeful too!  Just please, please pray for the Lord to heal our baby girl!  And pray for big sis Jaycie as we talk with her this afternoon.  'Our God is greater!  Our God is stronger!  God, YOU ARE HIGHER than any other!'  Claiming victory in Christ."

God is still in control.  He has his hand on Lydia and our family.  We trust and believe in His perfection.

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."  Psalm 34:18

Lydia

Saturday, we welcomed our precious 7 pound niece Lydia into this world!

Please pray for Lydia.  She was admitted to the hospital last night, and is now in ICU.  She had an abnormal CT scan, but the doctor is hopeful, and we serve a mighty God!  Please pray for healing for her little body, for a peace that passes all understanding for her parents, Lori and Jason (Lori is Chad's sister), and for their other daughter Jaycie who is 6. Thank you, prayer friends!

Here is a picture of the precious baby girl you are praying for and her big sister!  Aren't they beautiful?!

Third Opinion

Last Wednesday, Grace had an ophthalmology appointment with a new doctor.  This was our third opinion.

Just a brief recap on our other two opinions.  The first eye doctor we have been to was less than informative and gave little hope of improvement.  He basically told us nothing.  The second eye doctor we saw is affiliated with our state's school for the blind.  He was very hopeful and encouraged us to try to get involved with our state's comprehensive home-based intervention program (CHIP), which is basically like vision therapy.  After a LONG wait, we were denied admission into CHIP based on that same doctor's recommendations (yes, that's right).  We had really given up on finding an eye doctor that we liked, until our pediatrician recommended seeing our new doctor, Dr. M.

I am SO glad we listened to her and saw Dr. M!  He was very informative, and spent the perfect amount of time with us.  He talked with us intelligently and gave us a lot of hope for Grace's continued improvement with her vision.  He said there is nothing wrong with her eyes, and that she is near sighted (but no different than other children her age).  All in all, we were very pleased with our appointment!

Ok so also, I have to give a shout out to Grace's Mammaw Rita and Aunt Susie!  Mammaw keeps Grace when I work, and Aunt Susie is also home on the Fridays I work.  Grace loves them so much!  :)  Anyway, they started a business Kuddle Designs!  Kuddle Kidz and Kuddle Kritterz are handmade rag dolls/animals.  Grace has a Kuddle Kritter that she LOVES!  (I'll have to post pictures!)

For now, you'll have to settle with pictures from my cell phone!  :)
