We have celebrated our Risen Savior today!
He was pierced, crushed, punished, and wounded for you and for me, but the tomb is empty! What an amazing Savior! He alone is worthy! Happy Easter, friends.
You tore the veil, You made a way when You said that it is done. You tore the veil, You made a way when You said that it is done. And when the earth fades, falls from my eyes, and You stand before me I know You love. I know You love me.

Brave Girl
Today was a CRAZY day!
It started with me waking up to hearing Grace coughing and coughing over the monitor at 7:00 am. She didn't easily stop, which is weird, so I went into her room and realized she had thrown up in several places in her crib. Not a good way to start the day with a kid with a shunt. My initial thought was she had coughed so much she threw up. That thought quickly changed when she threw up in the bath tub with no coughing. I started to worry a little.
I gave her a bottle of milk (only because that's all she will drink out of her bottles - the best way to keep her hydrated). She of course threw up the only ounce she took. Then she proceeded to throw up a few minutes later. It was pitiful.
My mother in law went to get some pedialyte while I took a quick shower. Grace threw up while I was in the shower. After that, she played for a little while, then I tried to get her to take some juice with pedialyte in her cup. She took a few sips, ate a few goldfish and took a few bites of applesauce. She played then she threw up again.
Thankfully, I had already talked with our GREAT pediatrician, who said that within the hour if Grace wasn't better it would be a good idea to take her in to rule out her shunt. I had a good cry, started planning how I would fix her hair with half of it shaved, and hurried to the ER.
There was only one kid in the waiting room, so we got back quickly. The ER staff was amazing, and although by this point Grace hadn't thrown up in about an hour, she still was looking dehydrated and they were concerned it could be her shunt.
We had a shuntogram which Grace hated. She hated having to lay down for the images and cried huge tears (but I was thankful to see tears). They gave her Zofran and we tested her by giving her some clear liquids. Then it was off to MRI. Grace was very pitiful at this point. The nice man got her snug on the MRI table and the loud and scary scan started. I could hear Grace crying but there was nothing I could do. She was so brave. I finally got to scoop her up and she was snubbing. Pitiful.
We headed back to the ER to wait for the test results. In the meantime, Grace had not thrown up any more and we were so thankful. We tried some more pedialyte and she drank it down pretty amazingly. Normally, the only thing she will drink out of her bottle is milk, and the bottle is still the best way for us to keep Grace hydrated. I was so thankful she was drinking something better for her than milk at this point.
She was such a good girl as we waited. Finally about eight hours after it all started, we got the results that her tests were negative, and she probably has the stomach virus.
I've never been more thankful for the stomach virus!
Grace was the bravest girl throughout it all and I am so proud of her! We are so thankful that she is doing better and hasn't thrown up since before our ER trip.
She continues to teach me so much about perspective and trusting God. He listens to us and answers our prayers and cares about every detail of our lives. He is with us always and gives us strength and peace just when we need it. I am praising Him tonight for His continued amazing work in our lives. He is so good!

2nd Bday Party
We had Grace's second birthday party Saturday at our home. We had a sweet celebration with our family and some very special friends. We had grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, and my dear friends Anna and David and their son Walker (whom Grace is betrothed to). We couldn't invite everyone we wanted to, but we have been overwhelmed with so many who have joined with us over the past week to celebrate our precious girl's life! I cannot believe she is TWO!
She has been up to BIG things lately. On her birthday, Chad and I had to work, but her Mammaw Rita kept her for us and she said Grace pulled up to standing on her own! I've got to say, we were a little skeptical, but I have since witnessed Grace nearly pulling up on her own, so I now am a believer! Also, Grace has been tolerating her straw cup, and I think she even sucked on the straw once today. She has also for the past two days of school drank all her juice! Other things she is up to include: drinking off a different cup edge than usual without any problem, copying me by clapping her hands once, and trying to say dada. I continue to be amazed at God's BIG plans for Grace! To Him be the glory!
Here are some pictures and a video from Grace's garden party! I LOVED how the party turned out!

Celebrating 3/4
So, we now have a two year old!!!!!
Grace's birthday was Monday. Sunday, I took cookies to Grace's friends at church to celebrate her birthday. However, Monday was just a normal day for us. :( Chad and I worked, and Grace was out of school so she spent the day with her "Mammaw". I know she had so much fun and was treated like the princess she is! Tuesday, Grace celebrated her birthday with her friends at school! I'm posting pictures from her big day and a video of her celebrating at school below. I think she knew her friends were singing to her! Haha
Also, I wanted to share what our pastor wrote about Grace and God's work in her life. He is an amazing writer, and his blog post about Grace is simply beautiful. You can read it here.
We will celebrate Grace's birthday with a party Saturday. It's going to be much smaller than last year, and we are excited to celebrate with our family and close friends. Will post party pictures after Saturday!

T-W-O!!!!!!!!!!
My sweet baby will be two in three days. TWO! That's two miracle-filled years I've had with my precious girl. I continue to be overwhelmed with God's blessings on our family. He is so good.
We had Grace's two year old check up today and got a good report from her doctor! She weighs 26 pounds and is 31.5 inches long. Her head circumference is still below the normal curve, but it continues to grow on her own curve, so we are happy with that. She said Grace looks great and is doing really well with meeting her milestones, at her own pace of course, but isn't that true of all children? Some are just slower paced and that's okay.
Before her appointment, we had therapy. Grace did great and is progressing so well! She imitated the duck sound with her speech therapist, she is SO close to pulling up on her own in physical therapy, and she worked hard with both hands today in occupational therapy.
After that we had an interview on the radio for the Blair E Batson radiothon. I am so thankful to continue to give God all the glory for His work in our lives.
Here is a look back at pictures of my sweet girl over the past two years. WOW-I am thankful beyond words for these past two years.
